Teaching as accompaniment
Historically Informed Practice
A companion on the path.
For me, teaching is an act of accompaniment. I perceive the role of a teacher as a companion on the path: someone who walks alongside the student as they navigate their own artistic challenges and decisions.
My goal is to be a flashlight that points toward the blind spots, providing the necessary light for students to see their own potential more clearly.
I strive to create a space of trust, presence, and kindness where technical resolution and vivid musical expression become a unified journey toward artistic and human maturity.
“My greatest satisfaction is witnessing a student reach a place of confident, vulnerable presence: sharing their genuine self with the world.”
HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE
Evidence & responsibility.
My pedagogical approach is rooted in the rigorous study of primary sources and historical treatises. I guide students to find a synergy between historical evidence, stylistic interpretation and period technique, and their responsibility as 21st-century musicians.
By fostering a deep understanding of why we make certain stylistic choices, I empower students to move beyond arbitrary decisions and develop their own conscious, informed musical voice.
“Communication and expression are my driving forces. I see historical performance as a realm of constant discovery, a dialogue between the evidence on the written score and the implication of the absent. I strive for an interpretive balance where historical insight fuels my artistic intuition.”
A Holistic Approach
A healthy relationship with the instrument begins with a healthy relationship with the self.
Body Awareness
Drawing from my background in Alexander Technique, Conscious Movement, Pilates and dance, I help students embody historical techniques in a way that is functional, healthy and adaptable to their unique physiology.
Reflective Practices
As a transpersonal therapist, I bridge physical technique with the psychological aspects of music-making. We work on internal dynamics, the challenges of the learning process and stage presence, fostering an attentive, non-judgmental relationship with one’s own playing.
desde el silencio
This therapeutic space expands the pedagogical process through presence, vulnerability and creative awareness.
Testimonial
Subtle, clear and accurate accompaniment.
“Marta possesses a special ability to perceive the classroom dynamics and adapt to the reality of the moment, accompanying the students’ learning process in a subtle, clear and accurate manner. On every occasion I have observed her work, she has inspired the participating students—not only through her extensive knowledge and the vast array of resources at her command, but also through the passion she radiates in her classes, the conviction she brings to her work, and the trust she builds with each student. All of this makes it possible for the students’ evolution and final results in each of her workshops to be truly remarkable.”
